simple golden tips (UPSC)

UPSC preparation needs continuous effort . For working professionals this task becomes much tougher , as they have to maintain job expectations with their studies.

If you are a working professional like me than stick to these golden rules , or i would say general rules ,which everybody knows but generally don't follow ..

1. Study daily , and concentrate more on topics covered than no. of hours spent..

2. If you rely on no. of hours than , i would say it should be no. of hours invested on a particular topic.

3.Think Think Think and Write Write Write on each topic given in syllabus. Write at least one page on each topic.

4. Read the write-up and correct yourself, then show it to a friend or reliable colleague for constructive criticism.

5. Make very very concise notes, very very concise means note down keywords for each topic and key data only. It will be very helpful in revising just before the exams.

6. Read on-line newspaper during office hours and note down keywords.

7. Watch debate and news while having dinner and doing daily chores, it will save your time.

8. Don't read many books, stick to one or if required maximum two books for each subject in general Studies. For ex. For History- Spectrums -A Brief History of Modern India, Polity- Laxmikanth etc. Also read NCERTS from 7th to 10th and if time permits, NCERTS of 11th and 12th of Geography, History and few topics from biology book.

9.Do not overdo on internet, whatever you read over internet, don't forget to note down keywords,
at least one or two keywords from each article, otherwise whole browsing of internet will be waste. We tend to forget after few days what we have browsed if we do not have trackers (keywords) to remind us.

10. And last but not the least keep revising notes as well as SYLLABUS.....If you remember the syllabus then you can easily find relevant info from newspapers as well as news debates.

Best of luck Guys  :)
